We, propose a framework - OCRDROID for developing OCR (Optical Character Recognition) applications on the mobile phones. The project allows users to capture text documents using their camera enabled mobile phones which than passes through a series of preprocessing filters and is finally converted into a digital text file. The underlying archtiecture can be used to develop various applications. We propose two such applications built on top of OCRDROID Framework namely

• PocketPal : A Personal Finance Manager
• PocketReader : A Document Reader for Visually Impaired
